Training Yacht

Anyone familiar with Abu Dhabi’s sweeping Corniche may have seen the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing-liveried Volvo Open 70 training yacht in action.

Formerly the ABN AMRO TWO, once the holder of the world record for miles sailed in 24hours, the new-look yacht has been key in preparing Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing for the gruelling Volvo Ocean Race 2011/12.

It has also been a great asset in helping build Middle East awareness of the race and has hosted some of the world’s top stars, including golfing icons Lee Westwood, Paul Casey, Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickelson and Co. who were in the UAE capital for January’s European Tour-backed Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
