BBC WORLDWIDE’S BLUE PLANET IN CONCERT TICKETS NOW ON SALE

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – 29th September 2014: Tickets for the Arabian Gulf debut of BBC Worldwide’s highly anticipated Blue Planet in Concert, whichwill open the UAE capital’s stopover of the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) on 12th and 13th December, are now on sale.


 


Featuringfive times Oscar-nominated composer George Fenton with a 75-piece orchestra, the highly acclaimed show will be performed on a purpose-built, floating stage in the waters off Abu Dhabi’s stunning Corniche under a 10-metre wide screen.


 


Tickets range from Platinum VIP seating in a hospitality terrace with cinema surround sound for AED 600 (US $164) to Gold seating at AED 500 (US $137) and Silver at AED 300 (US $82), both at floor level, and can be bought online through the exclusive ticketing partner, Time Out Tickets www.timeouttickets.com or in person at the Dubai Media City box offices. Tickets bought online can be collected from the venue in Abu Dhabi on the day of the event.


 


 “I've been lucky enough to perform the Blue Planet concert across the world in some of the most iconic venues from the Hollywood Bowl to Sydney Opera House but the prospect of playing for the first time in Arabia, with a 75-piece orchestra on a floating stage with the Abu Dhabi skyline as a backdrop, promises to be the show's most spectacular setting yet,” said Fenton


 


Blue Planet in Concert combines spectacular, specially cut high definition footage from the award-winning TV series – The Blue Planet – with the emotional and evocative musical score performed by a live orchestra. The show will raise the curtain on the three-week stopover celebrations.


 


Hosted by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), the stopover festival will take place in a purpose-built VOR Destination Village, the size of five football fields, on the UAE capital’s Corniche Breakwater, packed with edutainment and entertainment highlighting Abu Dhabi’s union with the sea and its maritime heritage. There will be dhow racing, pearl diving showcases, traditional sea shanty performances, ocean conservation exhibitions and activities such as turtle conservation talks.


 


Up to 200,000 people are expected to visit Abu Dhabi’s VOR Destination Village, which will be open to the public from 12th December until 3rd January, when the race fleet departs for its next endurance sailing leg to Sanya, China.
