GET FIT ON THE BEACH THIS VOLVO OCEAN RACE

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates10th December 2014: Visitors to Abu Dhabi’s Volvo Ocean Race Destination Village on the Corniche Breakwater can take part in free beach fitness beach sessions. Abu Dhabi-based fitness hub Fit & Flex Studios are running a classes that include zumba; ashtanga yoga; pilates; body combat; body attack; legs, bums and tums, boot camp and teen urban dance sessions.


 


Classes start at 11.30am on Friday 12th December – the day the free-to-enter village opens - when there will be a full weekend-only timetable. From Saturday 20th December visitors can to take part in a daily 6pm sunset class (options include boot camp, yoga, zumba and legs bums and tums) against the spectacular backdrop of the UAE capital skyline.


 


Shower facilities on site mean that people can exercise before spending time in the Destination Village, seeing the yachts arrive, watching a concert or having a bite to eat. And the on-site stay and play crèche being run Happy Next Playhouse allow parents to leave their kids for an hour while they exercise (1 hour costs Dh20, two hours costs Dh35).


 


The classes are part of a packed programme of sporting activities at the Stopover that include touch rugby, football clinics, a climbing wall and water-borne activities.

Abu Dhabi’s VOR stopover runs at the Destination Village from 12th December to 3rd January. It is open, free-to-enter, to the public from 12pm till 9pm on weekdays and 11am till midnight on Thursdays and weekends. It will be three weeks packed with sailing, watersports, entertainment and culture highlighting Abu Dhabi’s union with the sea and its maritime heritage. Up to 175,000 people are expected to visit the Destination Village.
