Abu Dhabi, UAE – 18th December 2014 - Youngsters visiting Abu Dhabi’s free-to-enter Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) Destination Village over the next week can build their own ‘boats’ in the new, hands-on LEGO and Duplo Zone.

And the 10x15 metre zone will have kids leaving knowing more about the round-the-world race and sailing than ever – all of which they’ll absorb while having fun.

The zone will feature a ‘world map’ through which kids can trace the race route and the youngsters will be supplied with bricks to make their own versions of the VOR 65 yacht in which the hardy sailing teams are racing round the world. There’ll be a special Duplo area of toddlers under 5 and a Duplo play pit in the zone, which will be supervised at all times.

LEGO AND Duplo Week runs at the Destination Village, which is on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Breakwater from Friday, December 19 to December 26. The village is open daily to visitors from Sunday -  Wednesday (10am – 9pm) Thursday - Saturday (10am – 10pm) until January 3 with the exception of December 25th when the village will open from 4pm until 10pm.

The village is the centre of Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the VOR fleet and also celebrates Abu Dhabi’s rich maritime heritage. It is packed with family activities, live concerts, skill challenges and free sailing, yoga, rugby and other sporting activities.
