All Aboard For Abu Dhabi’s Volvo Ocean Race Destination Village Water Way To Get There

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 15th December 2014 - Weekend visitors wanting to head down to the expansive, free-to-enter Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) Destination Village on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Breakwater can now arrive there by boat!


Capt. Tony’s is operating  a boat shuttle service over the weekends which leaves a temporary pontoon at the   Corniche beach and arrives at the heart of the Village right in the centre of the action. The fare is AED 20 per person, one way. The service operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The shuttle boat runs from 12noon until the evening.


The Village, which is open weekdays from 12noon until 9pm, and on weekends from 11am until midnight, is packed with entertainment, cultural exhibits and family fun activities.


 


Capt. Tony’s, is also running hourly cruises, from 12pm – 8pm, along the Corniche coastline using traditional dhows (sailing boats). The 45-minute cruises run from the Destination Village with the dhows seating up to 25 passengers. Fares are AED 60 per adult, AED40 for children from 6-12 years while those below 6 years old go free. Passengers are served on board refreshments while enjoying fantastic views of Abu Dhabi’s impressive skyline.


 


Abu Dhabi’s Volvo Ocean Race Destination Village, which hosts the yachts competing in the round-the-world race and celebrates Abu Dhabi’s rich maritime heritage, is open daily until January 3rd when the hardy VOR fleet leaves on Leg 3 of the race bound for Sanya in China.
